(4.5cm tall) Here is a kind and loving Jizo statue, a gentle friend to help bring in the peace of evening after the stress of a long day. He wants to help us remember how important it is to rest, to be still, and just to look up at the stars sometimes. It's easier to find hope that way, sometimes.
He's made of stoneware clay, glazed in non-toxic glaze, and raku fired for the beautiful effects of smoke and flame.
Jizo is a Japanese Shinto spirit, a kami who found his way to Japan through Buddhism. He is a guardian of women, children, and travellers; he (or she or they) comforts us through grief and bereavement.
Through my work, I hope to bring a little nature, peace, and gentleness into the world. I make all of my pieces entirely by hand with non-toxic materials.
