They have a wonderful bird friend on their head to keep them company, and both Jizo and bird can keep you company! They feel like a combination of Jizo and nature spirit, a kami of peace, earth, and forgiveness.
Jizo and bird are made of stoneware, glazed with non-toxic glaze, and raku fired for the gifts of fire and smoke.
Jizo is a Japanese Shinto spirit, a kami who found his way to Japan through Buddhism. He is a guardian of women, children, and travellers; he comforts us through grief and bereavement.
Through my work, I hope to bring a little nature, peace, and gentleness into the world. I make all of my pieces entirely by hand with natural materials.
